Romans 12:2
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Hebrews 4: 12
For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.
I want to ask you all something: Are you reading?
I am not talking about my blogs (although I hope that you do read them as I do spend time writing them so you could be encouraged). But I am talking about reading the infallible word of God.
It is the common belief that God just supernaturally ‘does’ things to make our lives better. We like microwave results in this world. Something goes wrong, say a quick prayer and expect God to move mountains within a certain time frame. I am not against prayer. But many times, we go through some really crappy stuff, simply because we don’t know anything about God or what He has promised us.
For instance, if someone gets sick, I mean terminally ill, and they think that they just have to go through it. Or, your kids start acting up and you think that they are just being kids.
Usually when bad things happen, we do either of two things: Crumple in a corner and cry, or if you are a believer, find the most spiritual person that you know to help you out. God is not against either. There are times for crying and there are times to call on a friend for help. But God wants each of us to take a stance and fight the enemy for ourselves. We cannot fight the enemy without understanding who we are in God. And unfortunately the greatest secrets, weapons, and blueprints for divine success is wrapped up in words. Why? So that we don’t take them for granted. We need to get in the word of God for ourselves. How would you know what God wants for your life if you don’t read His manual? How would you know what is His standard if you don’t read His manual.
Reading the word of God is not an easy task. You will find that when you read the bible, you fall asleep. Or someone calls. Or your mind wanders. Or something that’s absolutely inappropriate happens. It’s not a coincidence. The enemy does not want you to get in the word because you will know how little power he has in your life. His goal, is to distract you all day long until you fall asleep so that you do not find out the Truth.
Now I love e’rrbody. But I urge you to take a stance for your life. You are not suffering because God wants you to suffer. He will allow trials to come. But they come so that you can practice how to fight against them and build your character. Believe it or not, you are a warrior. You are not some poor, subhuman, broke, messed up human. You are a spiritual warrior with authority. The only thing standing in your way of victory, is you.
As I was praying this morning, I received this word in my spirit: This month will be a month for spiritual warfare. I promise you, that I will pray for all of you who have asked me to. But I want you to do something for yourself and those around you. Put on the whole armour of God and fight for your breakthrough. Do not expect it to happen. Fight until it happens. God has already declared your victory. Are you ready to receive it?
