Matt 7:7c Knock and the door shall be opened
Knocking, is the last part of the principle. Knocking implies urgency, “I need to have it”, and “I’ve prayed, I’ve sought, where is it?” You are not to get impatient with God when you’ve asked and sought and you don’t see the manifestation of your blessing. The truth is, even though God has released your blessing, told you He’s done it and told you where to get it, there are other ‘entities’ in your vicinity that think that it’s their blessing too, or they just don’t want you to have it.
Let’s say again, you’ve searched all over the garage and you can’t find the keys to the car he’s promised. Does that mean that God lied about what He said? No. His Word tells us that God is not a man to lie, nor the son of man to change His mind (Numbers 23:19). But ask yourself, who else is around you that could have moved the keys? If God is true to His Word, someone else who thinks they have a right to your stuff has been messing with your keys.
This is when you start knocking. You don’t give up and throw in the towel on God’s promise. You persevere, holding on to what He has promise and then you storm heaven’s gates. You knock specifically on heaven’s door to state that you are God’s son and daughter and that He has given you a promise. You knock with the authority that you are the heir of that particular promise.
You knock on God’s doors like Jacob did, when Esau was coming after Him- Jacob thought that Esau was coming after him to kill him because of the whole “stealing his birthright bit”, and so he stopped and REMINDED GOD OF HIS PROMISE to him:
Genesis 32:11-12: Deliver me, I pray from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau; for I fear him, lest he come and attack me and the mother with the children. For You said ‘I will surely treat you well, and make your descendants as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude’
When you remind God of His promise, you obligate Him to move in the situation (God honours His Word above His name- Psalm 138:2). And because you are His child, He mobilizes the host of Heaven to work with you to receive your blessing . The bible says that God has sent forth “ministering spirits unto the heirs of salvation”. That means they are there to help you.
Knocking not only alerts the angels to work on your behalf. It also alerts every demonic enforcer (one or two of which are blocking your breakthrough), that you know what God has promised you and whoever has it, needs to cough it up and release it. While Angels are there to help you get your stuff, demons are there to stop them (remember the realm of Guck?) In knocking, you alert Satan’s reinforcements that you will wage a war against Him with confidence that God and His mighty host are backing you.
As a believer in Christ, you need to knock. You don’t go begging God for what He has give you (He doesn’t take back His blessings from His children), you don’t go as a wimp as if you don’t deserve what He’s promised. You go with a certainty of what Christ promised- “knock and the door SHALL be opened” and you state your claim, based on God’s Promise.
So. 1. Ask. 2. Seek. 3. Knock.
